During the massage I will check with you to see that the pressure I’m using is right for you i.e. deep, medium or lighter.

How long does a session last? Sessions can range from 1 to 2 hours depending on the treatment you choose. Sports/Deep Tissue Massage and Thai Yoga Massage can be 1-2 hours in duration. Hot Stone Therapy treatments are one and a half hours to 2 hours long and Couple Massage Workshops are 2-hour sessions. All other treatments range from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

How long should I book in for? I recommend booking in for an hour or more for the first session, especially if you need a specific focus in your treatment. It is often helpful to treat the whole of the body in order to alleviate pain and imbalance.

How many sessions will I need and how often? For serious conditions and injuries it is usually beneficial to book in for a series of 4-6 sessions. I recommend that these are spaced at regular intervals i.e. weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on the severity of the problem. This is something we can discuss after your first session. From personal experience I find that regular massage helps to keep muscular pain and stress at bay.

Can I let you know if the pressure is too light or deep? Yes, this is something I encourage. It’s your treatment and I will endeavour to give you the pressure that is exactly right for you. During the treatment I will check in with you to see how the pressure is for you and I am happy to have feedback at any point during the massage.

What oils do you use in the treatment? I use cold pressed sweet almond oil as a base oil or sunflower oil for those who have a nut allergy and a combination of essential oils, depending on your individual needs. Eucalyptus oil is an excellent way to warm and soothe tense muscles and oils such as chamomile, ylang ylang, lavender and neroli are very relaxing and uplifting.

Can I have massage if I am pregnant? Yes, you can. The treatment will be adapted for you depending on your stage of pregnancy – you will normally receive massage lying on your side and cushions and bolsters are used to ensure that you are really comfortable. Most of the treatments I give are extremely beneficial for all stages of pregnancy. Hot Stone Therapy however is not recommended for pregnant women because of the changes in temperature of the stones.

What happens during a session?
